Saito is a quiet, stoic member of the Shinsengumi. He doesn't often speak needlessly but says exactly what he needs to. More often than not he speaks in a highly professional manner, with respect where respect is due and curt when it is necessary to be so. At first he may seem cold, in an blunt, overly detached sort of way, but he warms up to people over time. He is extremely loyal to his comrades and to those he would consider a friend. But he is also someone who's duty is to fight and protect, and he will not hesitate to kill if it is required.
